A lively dose of dancing, drinking, swaying and singing is being promised as a taste of Bavaria comes to the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare next month.
The popular seafront landmark will be transformed into an Oktoberfest-style venue as it hosts its very first Grand Pierkeller event.
The German Bierkeller-style event takes place on Saturday, October 5, between 2pm and 6pm, and again between 8pm and midnight.
Adding some extra oomph to the event will be Die Heidelberger Boys, a five-piece Oompah band which will be performing a crazy show of well-known waltzes, German marches and polkas, with some popular British sing-a-long favourites thrown into the mix too.
The Bavarian-style band was formed in 2002 and has packed out many theatres and nightclubs as well as entertaining many branches of the armed services and, between 2015 and 2018, was the resident act at the Cardiff Bierkeller.
There will be audience participation aplenty, bucket loads of beer and heaps of hilarity.
And if anyone is left standing at the end of the second session, there is a disco.
Visitors are welcome to dress for the event – so it’s a case of lederhosen at the ready!
Tickets are priced from £12.50 and include entry to the Pierkeller, a stein of beer, cider or cocktail (two pints/ non-alcoholic alternatives will be available), the live entertainment, access to a range of beers and themed food (available to buy separately).
The menu includes Bratwurst (hot dogs) and Frikadellen (German hamburgers), both served with sauerkraut, pickles, cooked glazed onions and curry ketchup.
The event is strictly for over 18s only, and the Pier will be operating a Challenge 25 policy, so guests are being asked to ensure they bring an official form of ID with them. Bag searches will also be in operation.
The Grand Pier’s Events Manager, Hollie Otley, said: “When we decided to bring a taste of Bavaria to the Grand Pier, we simply had to do it in October.
“We’re sure this event will you swinging, dancing and laughing along, not to mention the swaying, which is obligatory at any German-themed night.”
